Install Microsoft Edge web browser in Ubuntu 24.04
The package isn’t a part of the standard Ubuntu repository. Therefore, we need to download the .deb package file from the Microsoft Edge download page. Scroll down the page to check the section where it says “Microsoft Edge is now available on Linux”.
Just right next to it, we see the .deb package file download link.
The package file we got was: microsoft-edge-stable_121.0.2277.98-1_amd64.deb
The version would be different for you.
We will be using Ubuntu’s Advanced Packaging Tool (APT) to install the .deb package we just downloaded.
Open a terminal and issue the following:
sudo apt update
This was important as it would download any additional dependencies with it. So, we need to have the latest versions for those dependencies.
Head to the directory where we downloaded the package through the cd command-line utility.
cd /path/to/downloaded/package
And, to install Microsoft Edge:
sudo apt install ./microsoft-edge-stable_121.0.2277.98-1_amd64.deb
Once done, we can launch Microsoft Edge from our Systems’ main menu.
In conclusion, we have covered how to install the Microsoft Edge web browser in the Ubuntu 24.04 release.
