The package isn’t available through the standard Ubuntu repository. Therefore, we need to download the relevant .deb package through its official website.
Note: The following operations require Administrative rights. If you don’t have the required rights then, contact your System Administrator for assistance.
Install Zoom in Ubuntu 24.04
First, we have to download the required .deb package:
From the dropdown menu on the webpage, select Ubuntu as Linux Type. OS Architecture stays 64-bit. And, click the Download button on the webpage. The package file: zoom_amd64.deb is approx 173 MB in size.
We can now use either apt or dpkg to install the package file. We will be using apt here. So, open a terminal and issue the following command in the terminal:
sudo apt install ./zoom_amd64.deb
Enter the Administrators’ password next. Thereafter, if there are dependencies that are required to be installed then, it would prompt us. Press y to continue with the installation if there are additional packages required to be installed.
Once installed, open a terminal and issue the following in a terminal:
zoom --no-sandbox
